Your Tuesday News: Job Opportunities for Military Spouses and More

Walmart Prioritizes Military Spouses

Walmart has a history of hiring veterans, now they’re extending that commitment to their spouses.

More employees at Walmart will have a military connection. The company is now giving hiring preference to military spouses.

It’s now the largest U.S. company to make such a commitment. This comes from the military spouse career connection, a new initiative by Walmart. It complements the 2013 veterans welcome home commitment.

There are more than 500,000 active duty military spouses nationwide. Around 77 percent of them need or want work.

Walmart also has the military family promise, which enables the ability to transfer locations when a spouse is transferred because of the military.

“I don’t know, I just got upset, we were arguing,” Costello said when he called 911.

It happened early this morning in Tarpon Springs. When paramedics arrived at the home, they found Costello’s father, James Costello, dead at the scene. According to police, the shooting is being investigated as a domestic homicide.
