The gym serves as his office while Tyler Butler prepares for his next strength competition. Butler plans to exceed his 2014 fitness records, and hopefully claim a $10,000 cash prize.
Butler is training to compete in the 2015 Strength Camp Challenge, hosted by YouTube star Elliott Hulse. The competition integrates both CrossFit and power lifting events.
Before beginning his workouts, Butler likes to get his heart pumping by doing a variety of cone exercises. “Warming up loosens your muscles up so that you don’t pull anything,” he said.
Butler tries to encompass different aspects of training by combining cardio and weight exercises. It keeps the work out interesting, active and shortened, he said.
Butler’s favorite exercise is the bench press. For him it is an adrenaline rush to have that much weight towering over his head and neck and to be able to push it off his chest.
Butler’s motivation for participating in competitions stems from his father. His father inspires him to lead a healthy lifestyle.
“I originally started working out to be good at sports when I was younger, but now it’s much more than that,” Butler said. “It’s a passion of mine and helps to alleviate stress from everyday life.”
After a hard workout, Butler enjoys cooling down by stretching. Stretching helps to alleviate soreness and prevent long-term injuries. “I like to follow up with a protein shake after my workouts,” he said.
Fitness enthusiast Tyler Butler is training to compete in the 2015 Strength Camp Challenge in late November. He has put in hard work and dedication, hoping it will pay off in winning the $10,000 prize. Butler aspires to be a good role model to family and friends and tries to inspire them to lead a healthy lifestyle.
